I’ve just heard that the new Steiner Commander Global Binoculars will be launched very soon in Australia. Released earlier this year in Europe and the US. Steiner is the world’s first binoculars to have a Global Compass. This means that you can sail from Alaska to Tasmania and use the same built in compass in your binoculars.
Prior to the Steiner Commander Global. All binoculars had specified zone ratings which are calibrated at the factory. This means that a North American Steiner compass will not work well in Australia. While the compass is still fairly accurate, most users find that the bearings are slightly off and the compass needle appears to be very “sticky”.
The binoculars comes built in with its own electromagnetic field sensor to determine its position and which “Zone” the binoculars are in. The display has also been updated to include a Digital readout and a virtual analog view for those who are used to it needle and dial.
You can expect the Steiner Commander Global Binoculars to have the same features as the Commander XP. This includes its Nano lens protection, super long life armouring and the perfect focus free technology.
Binoculars are arriving before the end of the year and binocularsreviewed.com will have a comprehensive review once our affiliate Steiner Center, OpticsCentral gets their hands on one.
